Duel began his tattooing career while doing a stretch with California Youth Authority in the early 80’s. Being the good boy that he is, Duel took to tattooing professionally after his stay in youth-camp.
Along with Joe Vegas, our studio’s owner, Duel worked at most of the tattoo shops in the Los Angeles/Hollywood area in the 90’s. The boom was on, and Duel really soaked it in; he was ready for anything, and a real pleasure to be around.
Duel, who also goes by “Chris”, is comfortable in any style tattooing, and enjoys black & grey the most. “You have to be a well rounded artist. or people only come to you for one thing,” says Chris. As the 90’s were wrapping up, California tattoo artists were flying around the globe, and Duel really took to traveling and perfecting the craft. He became bilingual, and wise beyond his years. Extended pit stops in Brazil and Miami before he settled down in the Atlanta area in 08’, Duel has some fun stories. With his positive attitude, we are happy to have him here at Thunderbolt.
When Duel isn’t tattooing, he can usually be found on his Harley-Davidson, trying out different ethnic restaurants.
